• School Day 2018 – 19 27 Sep, 2018

    School Day was held on Aug 23rd at Narada Gana Sabha. The program began with the school orchestra, Amritalahiri. The theme chosen was “Vagadeeshwari” and the students rendered three beautiful krithis on Lakshmi, Parvathi and Saraswathi respectively. Next the Middle School English Play transported the audience to Arabia with the absorbing adventures of the “Caliph of Bhagdad”. The Hindi Play, “Chaurangi Nrutya”, featured four vibrant folk dances of India – Koli from Maharashtra, Dwimukhi from Rajasthan, Dandia from Gujarat & Bhangra from Punjab. The Tamil Play portrayed incidents from the life of “Karaikkal Ammaiyar” and highlighted the adage that faith can move mountains. The Sanskrit Play, “Tridivam”, was a beautiful depiction of the story of the sinless Yudhishtira, the only Pandava to ascend to the heaven. The most awaited Dance Drama surpassed expectations, presenting the timeless story of Lord Rama in “Sri Rama Kathamritham”. The evening ended with the High School English Play featuring the heartwarming story of O. Henry’s “The Gift of the Magi”.

  • Sports Day 2018 -19 26 Sep, 2018

    Sports Day was held on 6th and 7th of August at YMCA Sports Ground. On 7th August, the school flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest, Archishaa CV, our alumna & Sports Secretary (2017-18). She took the salute for the March Past by senior and super senior students and also declared the sports meet open. In the torch bearing ceremony, the torch lit by the principal was carried around the ground by the top athletes of the school. Next the students of the Primary Section presented two colourful drills. The track and field events started soon after the opening ceremony. The Closing ceremony began with a coordinated drill display by the middle school students and a Silambam display by Class XII student, SwarnaPrabha. The Chief Guest, Ms.G Meenakshi, retired teacher of Vidya Mandir, presented certificates and trophies to the prize winners. This year’s Championship was lifted by the Kailash House. The Individual Sports Champions were the following: Sub Juniors–Sahasunil and Meda Juniors – Nikhilesh Nivas and Aparna Ganesh Seniors – Navya C and Vijay Priyadarshan Super Seniors – Dhanshita and Harish Kumar

  • Inter-House Dramatics 2018-19 21 Jul, 2018

    The Inter-House Dramatics Competition, held on the 21st of July treated the audience to four masterpieces of O. Henry. The play, “Gift of the Magi”, presented by Kailash House won the first place while the second place was won by Nilkant House for their play, “Proof of the Pudding”. The coveted prizes – “Best Actor Male” and “Best Actor Female” went to Aditya Chandrasekar and Shreya Sanjay respectively.

  • Reflections 2018-19 14 Jul, 2018

    Reflections, the inter-school cultural competition of Vidya Mandir, was held on the 13th and 14th of July. It was organized and conducted entirely by the 11th grade students of our school. The presence of actor & stand-up comedian, Mr. Karthik Kumar as chief guest generated a lot of excitement among the students. Twelve city schools participated wholeheartedly in over 20 events. SBOA Junior College Anna Nagar emerged winner of Reflections followed by PSBB KK Nagar.

  • Entre Nous 2018-19 30 Jun, 2018

    The intra-school cultural competition of Vidya Mandir, Entre Nous was conducted with enthusiastic participation by the students of class 10, 11 & 12, on the 29th and 30th of June. This year Entre Nous had 20 events with new additions such as Green Screen, Party Quirks & Video Making. Video Making was noteworthy due to the participation of the entire class and for the social message it conveyed. After two days of stiff competition, 12 B emerged winner with the second and third places taken by 12 C and 12 A respectively.

  • Prize Day 2018-19 14 Jun, 2018

    The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on 14th June. The Chief Guest for the function was Dr. Sumanth Raman, a well known sports presenter and political analyst. He presented the “Thirty Years Service Award” to our staff member, Ms. Sudarshana Nathan and the “Twenty Years Service Award” to six of our staff members – Ms. Chitra B, Ms. Hari Kripa Kannan, Ms. Sharada T, Ms.Susila Sampathkumar, Ms.Durga Narayanan and Mr. Veeraraghu M. The prizes for the "Best Outgoing Boy and Girl" in class XII went to Aditya Naik and Harshitha S. The "Challenge Cup for Best All Rounder Boy and Girl" were presented to Nishanth ---- and Nithya Sethuraman respectively.
